If you are looking for Best Astra Theme Review on the internet, then you are at the right place.
Before going to this review of the Astra theme, I need to confess that I hold an account and using it on thirteen sites.
Currently, Astra Pro is my go-to WordPress theme for every one of the websites launched by our team in the last six months.
The company understood the market gap for fast loading themes, thus delivering this uber-cool, which works very similarly to GeneratePress and the likes.
Since you landed here searching for a review or its related terms, it's my job to present you with both the pros and cons, here we go.
Astra Theme Review
I still love using Thrive because they're still the #1 when it comes to conversion-focused design. Due to the presence of lots, and lots of shortcodes, Thrive Themes size is on the bigger side.
There are specific requirements like our team launches sites focused on Adsense, one-page, which require a fast loading rather than a conversion focused.
In that case, Astra is the only option I recommend for everyone out there in the industry. Before going to the review, here is loading time in milliseconds when powered with the fastest hosting like FastComet.
1. Fast Loading Themes
As seen above, my site uses the default design where the page size is less than 200Kb, thus eventually makes the site loads faster. Here is another report from GTmetrix where the fully loaded time is 900ms.
If you want to learn how Astra worked on bringing the fastest WordPress theme, the history is impressive. The parent company behind Astra was started in 2008 as WordPress service website where they design, optimize and provide technical supports to some of the top WordPress sites in the online industry.
While working so, they found the most common issue with sites are related to poor speed due to bloated code. With years of experieicne, Astra was born as an inhouse project and now, it became one of the fastest growing theme in the industry.
2. Page Builders Compatibility
While I compared the three trendings (Vs GeneratePress Vs OceanWP) among marketers, Astra pro offers the best compatibility with most page builders like Thrive Architect, Elementor, Divi Builder, Beaver Builder, Visual Composer when compared to others.
If you install Astra starter sites, you'll be asked to choose templates based on your page builder. At the time of writing, there are more number of starter themes for Gutenberg and Elementor when compared to other page builders like Beaver Builder.
Elementor released its own theme called Hello but after using it for a while, Astra offers much control over Elementor page builder and the options are endless for my design ideas with options like
- Full width or stretched layout
- disable title, featured image and sidebar
- Global customizer option
- Elementor Pro 2.0 fully supported
- Smart Elementor Integration
- Header Footer options
- Mobile Header Options
- WooCommerce Supported.
3. Prebuilt Starter Sites
The best part, the starter WordPress themes. One can quickly grow their web design business to $1000+ per month when you get an agency license.
There are more than 50+ layouts available across the local business, ecommerce, business niches where you need to change the content of your clients, that's it, you can launch in less than an hour.
I wasn't just writing this for review, but if you view the demo, you can understand how it is made readily available.
You might find some themes possess good thumbnails, but when you check the demo, you'll see a straightforward plain design, and you need to work to bring to live as seen in the thumbnail.
But with Astra Pro, you don't need to suffer from all these customization options. How good life is for Internet Marketing agencies like us!
4. WooCommerce Integration
Astra offers everything you need to build a high performing WooCommerce sites.
A one-second delay in loading time affects nearly 7% conversions when it comes to eCommerce. Even if you use the fastest hosting but going for an outdated WooCommerce WordPress theme won't improve your conversions.
Chris Lema, Head of VP, Liquid Web states
At Liquid Web, we tested over 50 layouts for WooCommerce - looking at both performance and price. Astra cleanly beat the competition. It's why we recommend it to all our WooCommerce customers.
You'll find hard when a hosting company powering a lot of WooCommerce sites of customers recommend a particular company to get started. Some of the awesome features are
- Infinite Scroll (Dynamically loads products when user scrolls)
- Grid settings (highly customizable grid options for more control)
- Off-Canvas Sidebar (helps users to find products in single click)
- Dedicated sidebard (display custom sidebar based on viewing product)
- Quick View (helps to checkout quickly without visiting product page)
- Dropdown cart (Takes you directly to payment page)
5. Lifetime License
The cheapest Astra Pro Pricing is $59 for yearly billing, while the lifetime pricing is $249.
There is also an agency license option by which you'll get access to other BrainStorm Force products like Schema Pro, Convert Pro, add-ons for Beaver Elementor page builder.
You can direct checkout from the official pricing page.
You can always check out review to learn more about the latest update pricing.
6. Customer Support
BrainStorm Force, the company, behind offers the fastest customer support, and if you raise a ticket with enough details, they will come up with a solution in the first reply itself; also, there are a lot of tutorials available on the internet.
The reason I'm stating this, few companies advertise 24x7 support, but most of the first reply will be like" we got your ticket, wait for some time, we will respond you back soon," but it will take a few more hours for next reply.
I didn't find such issues, and there is such an instance.
Cons of Astra
1. Confusing Options
WP Astra comes with in-depth customization. You can do ten different customization options for ten different pages. I felt lost in some areas because of too many options.
However, if you aren't doing so many changes, you don't need to worry about it.
2. Less Number of Blog Layout options
There are 50+ Astra starter sites, but I can find only less than five layouts exclusively built for blogs. While most affiliate marketers use blog style layout and looking for the same, I hope the company will add more layouts shortly.
Also, most of the WooCommerce themes are focused on selling physical products, I find no good for selling my services.
That's the reason you can see most SEO service sellers use WordPress Theme of Thrive FocusBlog since it offers a distraction-free layout.
Astra Free Vs Pro
While free version is enough for testing sites, Pro version gives more control and here are some of the best differences I found between two are.
Astra Pro gets access to all starter sites the free version is limited to less than ten templates and no dedicated support will be provided.
Astra custom layouts helps you to design custom header, footer, blog page, 404 page etc but free version doesn't have access to it.
While AMP, schema and SEO plugin support are available in both versions, integrations to LearnDash, LifterLMS and Easy Digital Downloads are limited in free version.
Out of ten Woocommerce features mentioned above, only few are available in free.
There are two different pricing, one is the regular yearly access while another is lifetime with unlimited usage.
There is also a free version with most features, and however, if you're an SEO person, I suggest you to go for Pro premium version for competing against competitors. Since the paid version offers much control over the design element like updated post date, CTA options.
Concluding this review with a note, Does Astra pro theme Worth The Hype?
